Wednesday, March 18, 2015

When Tom's parents came to visit we had a fantastic time visiting all our top places around the city:

Brunch (multiple courses, and mimosas!)...

DUMBO, Brooklyn (one of our favorite spots!)...

Williamsburg, Brooklyn (with great views of the city!)...

Battery Park, the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island tour (a must-see!)...

The Plaza...

Roosevelt Island with plenty of sunsets on the rooftop...

Jazz at Lincoln Center ( we sat right behind the band!)...

Thanks for visiting- and for providing the photos!

hike at bear mountain- may 2014

Wednesday, March 11, 2015

In an attempt to get out of the city, I suggested we go hiking and found Bear Mountain online, a place that was easily accessible by bus (since neither of us can drive here)! I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting, but needless to say 'hiking' means different things to different people (to me "a walk in the countryside" to Tom and Olly it meant "rock climbing"!!). Anyway, I survived and we made it all the way to the top for a well deserved picnic enjoying the view! Success!!

Brooklyn Botanic Gardens was somewhere that we had wanted to visit for a while, but heard you had to get a good week to see all the flowers at their best! I have a card that gets the 2 of us into most of the museums etc for free, so we headed out there on the subway one sunny May weekend. Although we had already missed the best of the cherry blossoms there was still lots to see, and we enjoyed a quieter afternoon away from the city! The Japanese garden and the bluebell field were particularly impressive. We definitely recommend a visit if you're ever here in Spring!
